The Ninth Public Meeting of the Judicial Proceedings Panel on Sexual Assault in the Military was held on April 10, 2015 in Washington, DC.

Arlington, VA - The ninth public meeting of the Judicial Proceedings Panel ("JPP" or "the Panel") was held on Friday, April 10, 2015, at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, in Washington, D.C.

During its day-long meeting, the JPP met with leaders from the Department of Defense and Military Service Sexual Assault Prevention and Response offices to review how DoD is addressing concerns expressed by victims regarding professional and social retaliation. The JPP also heard from civilian experts about their studies of retaliation in the workplace and the effects of workplace retaliation on victims and organizations. The last session of the meeting included representatives from DoD Office of Inspector General and Military Service Boards for Correction of Military Records, who explained to the JPP how DoD and the Military Services currently investigate and resolve complaints of reprisal and professional retaliation made by This email address is being protected from spambots. The JPP held this meeting as part of its congressionally mandated mission to conduct an independent review and assessment of judicial proceedings conducted under the UCMJ involving adult sexual assault and related offenses for the purpose of developing recommendations to improve such proceedings. The JPP's next session is scheduled for May 19, 2015, where the Panel will continue its review of retaliation against victims of sexual assault crimes by hearing from victims, advocacy groups, oversight organizations, military installation commanders and leaders, and victim support personnel. The JPP will continue its work through September 2017 and will provide reports and assessments to the Secretary of Defense and Congress.
